Coverday Friday (13)

  At the Other End:
Life for Megan Rosenberg just got a lot more complicated.

While she evoked the air element, and her feelings for Adam intensified, a web of lies, deceit, and betrayal was spun around her. With the Order tightening its hold, and the reinstatement of the Mark Knights, Megan has more questions than answers as the Marked Ones grow in strength.

New people arouse suspicion, the DeRises start behaving strangely, and Megan begins to unravel a destiny shrouded in mystery. It’s a destiny the Order has struggled to hide, and a destiny someone from the past… far in the past, has already laid claim to.

Alliances will be made, and friends will be lost, as the Order’s dark secrets are revealed by the very thing they sought to destroy.

Leigh FallonAuthor Bio:
I was born in South Africa, raised in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Cork in my 20’s. While living in beautiful Kinsale, Co Cork I discovered a love of writing. I write mainly for the young adult market. My current book, The Carrier of the Mark, prompted me to abandon my ‘riveting’ career in corporate treasury and have been writing ever since. I have another three books in the Carrier series and a few other projects I'm working on. My family and I now share our time between Ireland and the US.

Shadow of the Mark (Carrier Trilogy #2)
By Leigh Fallon

Why Hello There:
I've seen on Goodreads when I found this cover yesterday that this cover has caused a little controversy, seeing as this cover is so similar to Carrier (view them together below). Yes, I see where everyone is coming from in this situation.....HOWEVER.... I really do like this cover, I love the colours and how IT IS so similar to the first cover. It makes it straight away says "Hey, look at me! I'm part of this series, we're unique". I see a lot of covers now-a-days that each cover in the series stray far away from each other, I believe in having a main theme for all your covers if it's in a series, even if it is kind of/not really the same thing, just take a look at the Matched covers, they are so similar, yet you know exactly what series they are from. Ok, in this series if the cover model (aka Megan Rosenburg) was doing some other actions and not (quite literally) have a flipped image (without all the other detail) then I would love it even  more and you wouldn't even hear about all this controversy that's going on. Like, for example, the first cover (Carrier) has the model looking up, the second cover (Shadow) have the model looking down to the right (our right) and then the final cover (Age) could have the model looking straight at us.
I really do like the cover though, the only real big similarity is the cover model (and her mirror), the text is allowed (and prefered) to be the exact same (I love how it is in the exact same position as well, let's just hope that all the book heights end up being the same). The swirly-cloudy-poofy-thing :P is cool and different as well as the background is stormy and dark, really making the colours stick out, this is the same with the first novel, the light background makes the blue stand out.

The Consideration Game:
I haven't even read the first novel yet. But in saying that it does sound like a good story and I would like to read it, especially about the whole fate sealed thing sounds intriguing. Saying this, no matter how the first novel turns out for me I will read the rest of the trilogy. I will need to order this book online and read it, or Library it first before I buy because apparently I have too many books already :/ psshht LIES!
