Althea assumes now that she, Pax, and Lucas are reunited in spring that the next steps are obvious - locate Deshi and prepare to take down the Others once and for all. But she doesn't expect the subtle changes in Lucas.
After being left alone last season with only his Element father for company, Lucas has started to question whether their rightful place isn't with the strange alien race as opposed to humanity. When an emergency forces Lucas to aid the Others so they can remain on Earth, Althea worries that she's lost him once and for all.
The one thing she knows is that Deshi's the key to any hope of reclaiming the planet. So as the Others gut their already wobbly support system, Althea and Pax gather together the beginnings of a plan - and maybe an army.
Even if she can convince Lucas their side is the right one, the Prime Other holds Deshi captive and shrouds any knowledge about their fourth in clouds of secrecy. What they discover deep underground is a roadblock they didn't expect - and one that could steal their last hope of saving humanity

You can tell this cover belongs to the Last Year series. The border around the font is the main part that tells us it belongs to this series (other than at the top saying it is The Last Year, Book Three....) I was wondering for a while how this cover will be. When you look at the first books in the series (below) you can see that they have the same kind of theme so I was wondering how they were going to do this one.
I like how it is that little bit different than the other two. Making it known that we are getting close to the final in the series with SUMMER RUINS to end the series in February 2013. If you put the covers together at the bottom so that it goes WHISPERS (top left), WINTER (top right), BETRAYALS (bottom left), and finally SUMMER (bottom right), don't you love how it turned out like this?! So unique, just plain AWESOME! I love the whole colour scheme for all three books. I think my favourite cover in the series is WHISPERS IN AUTUMN, mainly because I love that season and how the whole cover works well together and sets it for the rest of the series. Wondering though what colour is going to be used in SUMMER RUINS, maybe yellow? orange was already used in WHISPERS....... What do you think?
Trisha contacted me a while ago about reviewing WHISPERS IN AUTUMN. While book 1 is still caught in the review request pile up, I cannot wait to start this series. Especially from what I've already heard about the books and for how much I adore the covers. It's a no brainer. YES!
From the Author, Trisha:
One of the awesome things about my particular cover concept is that I got to see mockups of all four at the very beginning. Still, watching each one turn into the final version is thrilling, and BETRAYALS IN SPRING is no different. At first, I didn't want flowers or pink or anything too happy - it's the third book in a post-apocalpytic series, after all, and the world isn't exactly a pretty pink flowery place - but as it turns out, BETRAYALS IN SPRING is (tiny spoiler) the most romantic of the series. Everyone who has read it and has seen the cover thinks it's a perfect fit, and so do I - pink flowers and all.
Check out the series together!
