BLOG TOUR!! Fate's Design by Lola James

At the Other End:

A summer vacation in Italy with her twin sister, Morgan, is just what Megan Romano needs. But instead of fun, wine, and relaxation, she finds unexpected romance. Alexandros DiPiero, a sexy and mysterious Italian businessman, falls for Megan the minute he lays eyes on her, but Megan knows it’s too good to be true.

Increasingly haunting dreams that warn of danger and destiny plague Megan’s every sleeping moment. As her nightmares become deadly and her love life heats up, Megan will come face to face with her worst fear.

First Impressions Last:

I had seen this book once before on a tour, yet it was full when I went to sign up for it. When I saw it come up again, I jumped at the chance to review this novel and signed up straight away. I like the chic-lit-y cover to it as well as how the blurb is so fitting to the cover design.

Behind the 346 Pages:

Wow, I so did not expect a supernatural element to this story. Like the title suggests, this novel is about what Fate has in store for Megan. Ok, when I say supernatural elements to this story, I do not mean that Fate is personified. (Just to clear things up a little). Messing with Fate, is a major part to this story that quickly pulls you in, as Lola brings in the world where Fate is predestined, think the movie The Adjustment Beauro but without all the guys in suits and hats, well, just the nature of the film where one's Fate is set. We see a lot more of the supernatural element when we come across what actually happens to Megan's dreams as well as who is messing with them and also what her dreams could actually mean. Oh Alex....why hello there ;) Although this novel started off a little slow, it definatelty picked up the speed. We also get to Italy pretty early into the novel, which is good seeing as that is where all the action happens. Which means that, even though the start start is a little slow, Italy surely picks up the pace of the novel to leave us wanting to read more and figure out exactly what is going to happen.

As well as a supernatural element to this novel, it then becomes infused with a paranormal element as well as you go further and further into the novel. I will not say particularly what kind of paranormal creatures are in this novel, because some could judge the novel just by the kinds of paranormal creatures in this book (which is why Lola has left this element out of the blurb, as well as for the fact that we get surpised by the new element). At the end of the novel, there is a cliffhanger for the next book. But it isn't much so, as it leaves you with enough to satisfy your bookish-hunger of this novel as the BIG question has been answered, although it leaves out the answers on others and saves them for the next novel, which does keep us hanging for the next novel.

BLOG TOUR!! Katrina: The Beginning by Elizabeth Loraine

Katrina, the Beginning (Royal Blood Chronicles #1)
At the Other End:

As a Vampire being hunted was nothing new. Finding out that I had to save those that were hunting us was! Katrina, a young royal blooded vampire, chronicles her life from the age of seventeen beginning in the 1800's forward in the series Royal Blood Chronicles.Katrina is thrust into something she never could have imagined growing up in the aristocracy of Europe. Once the fashion of the day, and girlish gossip filled Katrina and her new friends days, but their lives changed the instant their race was threatened and they were chosen as the Five, and the protectors of not only the vampire race, but all the peaceful races of the world!

First Impressions Last

After Twilight and the whole Vampire obsession started taking over and drowning us all, I avoided reading vampire novels, unless I didn't know that it had those elements within the novel. When I read the blurb for this novel when the tour came up, I thought to myself, "I should give it a go, it sounds good." so I did. I also was really drawn in by the cover, at the time there wasn't very good lighting so the cover looked a little darker than what it does, which made it look very eerie.

Behind the 338 Pages

I loved the classic feel to this novel, nothing like Twilight or any other modern day Vampire novels. Because this was set in the 1800's, the time period felt right as the kind of creatures that they are. I don't know how to really explain it, but this novel didn't exactly pull me in. I was kind of putting along with it, you know, going with the flow. I loved how strong of a character Katrina is, and yes, I understand that the girls and her are usually by themselves (before this situation) are full gossipy etc etc I found them all very annoying. I wanted to skip some of the parts with all the girls in it. And the way her father is to her friends when she asks for a favour, is the kind of cool-father that everyone wishes and it just makes me want to go "pssshhhtt, whatever *eye roll* because of how he acts. Like it was like that back in the 1800's. Even now, fathers won't be like that, she based this on an unrealistic dream of most girls. A lot of things were going on throughout the novel, and this book did feel like a chronicle of her life, but it was evident that it was. I love how this story is very unique, which is mostly hard to do when having Vampires as the subject matter. It was good because we see the classic Vampires of the 1800's, but we also see a little twist on that to make it unique and something that now-a-days, we don't find. Sometimes, characters seemed to either jump up into the story out of nowhere, or just suddenly dissapear. Yet the story continues with the characters as they were there all along. Katrina is the kind of girl that anyone can get along with, we instantly feel connected to her. Although we notice her formality in her speech then compared to us, we still come ot know and love her as well as try to help her on the way (even though we know she can't really hear us)

Elizabeth LoraineAuthor Bio:
I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years. After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well.... But I stuck to it and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have six books in the series and am about to release book two of my new series Phantom Lives. My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, study and do it right. I believe that and live that way every day.I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I myself wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long lived beings. Where had they been what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more so Royal Blood Chronicles was born! As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop.

Take A Seat. Get Strapped In. Let's Go For A Ride:
1. Where have we seen you before? (previous projects/works)
Royal Blood Chronicles is my first work. I started writing it two and a half years ago.

2. What goes through your mind after your novel has been on sale for the first week?
You have to let it go. Hope people like and move on to a new project.

3. What inspired you to write this novel?
Not having anything match exactly what I wanted to read. I just decided to write something myself.

4. What do you think about when getting/seeing negative reviews?
It stings, probably don't have as thick of skin as I should, luckily it doesn't happen that often. To each their own after all, you can't be everything to all people.

5. How long was the writing/planning process?
The planning process wasn't long. I just sat down and started to write, this first book took five months to write. It takes me less time now, because I know these characters.

6. What was your reaction to the cover art when you saw it for the first time? Did you have any ideas from the days of writing/inspiration?
It took a few days to decide on a cover, but once it was done, it was so satisfing. My sister and I do them together, and it's one of my favorite parts.

7. Any plans for future writing projects? Any being worked on now?
Oh I am always writing. I am in the process of continueing a story I started last year, Lillian. My readers wanted to know more about her and so I am exspanding her story.

8. Top 5 books

- Wizard of Oz

- Gone with the Wind
- Lord of the Ring
- Interview with a Vampire
- The Raven

9. Recommended books
The Twilight Saga, Harry Potter series, The Secret Circle, Blue Blood Series
10. Why read your novel?

If you love strong female characters, adventure, romance and action/adventure you have found your series. If you love Twilight and Harry Potter there are a combination of fun for your here. Elves, magic, wizards, love, betrayal and Redemption.

BLOG TOUR!! Caterpillar by Kate Oliver

Caterpillar (The Metamorphosis Trilogy, #1)At the Other End:

In a small college town in northern California, a lonely young man is working himself to the bone to solve a sixty-year-old problem ... a stranger with a will of iron and eyes the color of ice is searching for someone he can't identify ... and a girl who loves plants is about to grow roots of her own.

When Cara Gallagher's parents are transferred overseas again, she's off to spend her senior year of high school living with her sister, a graduate student at the famed McNair University. Cara, a girl with a passion for science and an indifference to people, hopes this move will be her first step in claiming the independence she craves. Cara has her future planned down to the letter: her college, her major, her career.

Then she saves Will Mallory's life, and both of their futures are completely rewritten.

The last years of Will's life have been spent shifting from one identity to the next, dodging the FBI, and trying desperately to find a way home. But Will's home is forty-four light years away, and to reach it he'll have to outwit the man who's hunting him--and leave behind the only love he's ever known

First Impressions Last:

I really like the blurb. Although it does give a little bit away, we are still left with underlying questions that make us want to read the novel. T
he cover is very unique, wondering where the idea for the cover art came along.

Behind the 338 Pages:

hmmm 3.5 scrolls. I'm really stumped on this review. It's got some great elements to the story. The combination of Cara and Will are totally and completely in sync. They are a brilliant couple together and they make the novel worth reading. I loved how alone they both are in the world, yet because they both understand the feeling, they begin to understand the world together as well as escape their loneliness. Ok, it's not awfully lovey-dovey cutsey-wootsey love story. It is all played out extremely well. I loved how much of our own world we were in while in this fantasy story. Everything played out so well and so much like our very own reality today. Without the fantasy-alien element, it would be your classic YA story of a young girl finding herself and learning to grow in a world she feels outcasted and tormented. Then as she comes across a boy and they change each other's world for the better and they get more confortable in their own skin. This was the best part of the novel. Where the downfall is, was that it didn't seem to pull me in as I wanted to. It seemed to drag on at times and not have a steady pace that I liked. It was a great story, but as I said, it seemed to drag on a bit too much.

BLOG TOUR!! Moonlight Mayhem by Sherry Soule #MMBlogTour

Moonlight Mayhem (Spellbound, #2)At the Other End:

Shiloh Ravenwolf thought she was getting used to the strange events in Whispering Pines, until the full moon brings another surge of supernatural threats to her coastal town. Ferocious wolves, deadly necromancers, and shambling zombies have descended upon the neighborhood, so Shiloh needs to gain control of her magical abilities—fast!
It sucks that she has a crippling fear of the dark, which for a demon hunter can be an epic problem.
When her classmates are attacked by a mysterious creature and her father is murdered, Shiloh vows vengeance. Forcing her phobias aside, she forms an unlikely coven of supernaturally gifted teens to help her eradicate this menace. Except that's not all Shiloh has to worry about. She’s battling a different monster within herself and struggling not to become the very thing she fights: evil.
But with demon blood inside her—anything can happen…

Beautifully Broken (Spellbound #1)Beautifully Broken (Spellbound #1)
Behind 328 Pages
At the Other End: They say every town has its secrets, but that doesn’t even begin to describe Whispering Pines. The townsfolk are a superstitious lot and the mystical disappearance of a local teen has everyone murmuring about a centuries old witch’s curse.

When sixteen-year-old Shiloh Ravenwolf takes a summer job at Ravenhurst Manor, she discovers a ghost with an agenda. That’s where she meets the new town hottie, Trent Donovan. But Trent may be the next victim on the supernatural hit list, and Shiloh is the only person with the power to save him. Complicated much?

After receiving cryptic messages from a creepy wraith and frightening threats from a demon, Shiloh finally begins to understand the mysterious significance of the strange mark branded on her wrist. Now Shiloh must decide how much she's willing to sacrifice to protect the other teenagers in town.

Unfortunately, for Shiloh, not all ghosts want help crossing over. Some want vengeance

Dream Cast

Okay, today ‘s post is provided by author Sherry Soule, who is celebrating the release of the second novel in the YA Spellbound series, MOONLIGHT MAYHEM—due to be published July 2012.  This would be her dream cast of actors if her books were ever made into movies or a TV series. (She’d prefer the latter.) So without further ado here are Sherry’s top actor picks...

Malese Jow

Rachel Bilson

My kickbutt heroine, Shiloh Ravenwolf is a tough one. For me it is between these lovely and brilliant actresses: Chloe Bridges and Rachel Bilson and Malese Jow. (I couldn’t find many Native American actresses in my Google search that would fit my description of Shiloh, who is half-French and half-Sioux.)

Chloe Bridges

Quirky, SHILOH (who never leaves the house without her fav hot pink Doc Martens) has a habit of engaging her brain before her mouth. She has seen shadows for as long as she can remember, and they always turn up when something bad is about to happen. Shiloh was born with an unusual mix of Native American Sioux and French Wiccan ancestry. When Shiloh meets the new town hottie, Trent Donovan, she realizes he might be next on the supernatural hit list. Shiloh decides it’s her duty to find out what is causing the mystical disappearances in Whispering Pines before the evil claims another innocent life. Yet even as a witch-in-training, is Shiloh worthy to combat the forces of darkness? Or is she just another teen destined to befall the town curse?

Alex Pettyfer
Christopher Chace Crawford
For the part of the arrogant, playboy, Trent Donovan, I think these dynamic actors would be great: Christopher Chace Crawford or Alex Pettyfer:
After seventeen years, TRENT and his father return to Whispering Pines and are instantly under speculation. Especially when construction on their mansion awakens an ancient evil, and the vanishing of a local teen has everyone murmuring about an old witch’s curse. When Trent meets Shiloh—sparks fly. Shiloh and Trent have an almost instant connection. As their friendship changes from mutual lust to real affection, they achieve an emotional closeness rarely found. He finds Shiloh’s willful determination a challenge, but he still has a hard time expressing his feelings.  Will Trent be able to survive the Whispering Pine curse in time to tell Shiloh how he feels?

Kelly Lee Carlson

For Shiloh’s mother, Jillian Ravenwolf –Broussard, I like this amazing actress: Kelly Lee Carlson (she would be so freakin’ perfect).
Shiloh’s mother, JILLIAN BROUSSARD is an incredibly beautiful yet cryptic woman. She has never really been the “motherly” type. When she starts dabbling in Dark Magicks, she slips further away from her family. Jillian has been embracing darkness, and straying from the path of Wicca. Will the cost of her driving ambition come at a deadly price?

Oded Fehr

For Jackson Ravenwolf (Shiloh’s father) this wonderful actor might be great: Oded Fehr.
JACKSON RAVENWOLF is Shiloh’s father, and he only wants peace within his troubled family. He is a kind-hearted man who tends to be swept up in Shiloh’s drama. He does not believe in the supernatural. Not in ghosts or hauntings or mysterious happenings as well as psychic abilities. He thinks the rumors about witches are ridiculous. Still he’s worried that Shiloh will discover his secret. Will he finally find the courage to tell Shiloh the truth about her heritage?

Tiffany Thornton

For Shiloh’s sassy best friend, Ariana Parsons, this remarkable actress would be great: Tiffany Thornton.
Smart and feisty, ARIANA PRESTON is Shiloh’s best friend. Her outgoing nature, along with her snarky and blunt personality are Ariana’s most endearing qualities. Upon learning that Shiloh is actually a powerful thirteenth witch, she dedicates herself to aiding her friend in the battle against evil. But after playing around with the occult, Ariana develops a taste for the dark arts. Will her interest in the Craft only cause more havoc and mayhem in a town that is already cursed by dark magick?

Patrick Wilson

Josh Lucas

For Anthony Evans, Shiloh’s mentor and friend, I like these gifted actors best: Josh Lucas or Patrick Wilson.
ANTHONY EVANS is a Victorian restoration specialist and part-time paranormal investigator that grew up in Castro Valley, California, and gifted with Sight. After the death of his wife, he moves in with his brother-in-law, Maxwell Donovan and his nephew, Trent to help cleanse their haunted house. After hiring Shiloh as an assistant, he decides that it’s his duty to educate Shiloh in all things supernatural. But will teaching her magick be enough to stop the evil from killing the other teenagers in town?

Gwyneth Paltrow

For Shiloh’s brave and loving aunt Lauren, I like these outstanding actresses, Gwyneth Paltrow or Charilze Theron:
LAUREN BROUSSARD wants to help Shiloh deal with her newfound powers. Although, continuous, heated disagreements with her sister, Jillian about Shiloh’s upbringing resulted in her being estranged from the family. But what can Lauren say when Shiloh starts asking questions about the Broussard family’s dark past?

Julian Dana William McMahon

Only one actor comes to mind that could portray the dashing and ruthless, Maxwell Donavon – Australian actor and former fashion model, Julian Dana William McMahon:
Millionaire, yuppie, MAXWELL DONOVAN finally appears in MOONLIGHT MAYHEM. He shares his son Trent’s intensity, articulacy, and conviction. Maxwell was married to Claire and stole not only her heart, but her sanity as well. Rumors abound after he is accused of murdering his wife. Is he really a heartless killer or is there more to this enigmatic man?

Victoria Justice
For the bratty Trendies, Ashley and Kayla, I like these young, talented actresses: Victoria Justice for Ashley and Amanda Bynes for Kayla:
ASHLEY WITHERIDGE is the mayor’s daughter. She is the Queen Bee at Whispering Pines High. Always calm and poised, and perfectly coiffed. She is Shiloh’s best frenemy. Ashley is very loyal to her friends while still being independent. When an unstoppable beast invades the town, will Ashley put aside her differences to join forces with Shiloh?

Amanda Bynes

KAYLA BISHOP is Ashley’s best friend and captain of the cheerleading squad. At times, she can be spontaneous or cautious—whatever the situation calls for. She’s tougher than she looks, but can a bit of an airhead. Will Kayla surprise herself with her own insightful contributions to the fight against evil?

For the Ramírez family, I like these three talented actors: Michael Trevino as Daniel, Famke Janssen as Regina, and Demián Bichir as Javier.
Left to right: Michael Trevino, Famke Janssen, Demian Bichir

Okay, so there you have it, Sherry’s fav actor picks. If you’ve read Beautifully Broken or Moonlight Mayhem, what actors would you pick for the leading roles?
Hope you enjoyed this post. Now go feed your mind and read a book! Preferably mine. J
