He said: I like to keep under the radar and mostly hang out with my friends from the rez. But when I saved Riley Berenger from falling off a mountain, that rich suburban princess decided to try to save me.

She said: If I can help Sam Tracy win the heart of the girl he can't get over, I'll pay him back for helping me. I promised him I would, no matter what it takes.

At the Other End:
When Native American Fredricka ‘Fred’ Oday is invited to become the only girl on the school’s golf team, she can’t say no. This is an opportunity to shine, win a scholarship and go to university, something no one in her family has done.

But Fred’s presence on the team isn’t exactly welcome — especially not to rich golden boy Ryan Berenger, whose best friend was kicked off the team to make a spot for Fred.

But there’s no denying that things are happening between the girl with the killer swing and the boy with the killer smile...

Author Bio:
I'm an American author living in the American Southwest by way of Chicago.

Born and raised in Park Ridge, Illinois, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, after college, never expecting to live more than one year among cactus and people who’d never seen snow. I was wrong. It certainly didn't hurt that I met my future husband in Phoenix too.

Most of my stories are set in the American Southwest because I think the desert is a cool place. Living in Phoenix, I'm surrounded by Native American culture and influences, not to mention intriguing Hohokam petroglyphs and centuries-old canals. There are over 20 tribes in Arizona and I'm lucky to be neighbors to the Gila River and the Salt River Indian Communities.

When I'm not busy writing my next novel, I like to travel, visit museums, support local theater productions, hike, and pretend that I'm training for a triathlon. I post a lot of photos from my desert and mountain hikes on my Facebook and Twitter pages. In no particular order, I've been chased by javalinas, rattlesnakes, coyotes, and even one curious black bear.

Inspiration behind PLAYED
PLAYED is a companion novel to the YA contemporary novel HOOKED that debuted in January of 2013.  PLAYED is not a sequel to HOOKED. However, PLAYED follows (and expands upon) several of the characters that the reader was introduced to in HOOKED.
Is it critical that you read HOOKED to understand PLAYED? No.
Would it be nice? Absolutely.
Would it be lovely? Heck, yeah.
HOOKED is all about Fred Oday (Fred is short for “Fredricka”) and Ryan Berenger.  In particular, it’s about Fred’s desire to join the all boys’ varsity golf team at Lone Butte High School in Phoenix, Arizona, in the American Southwest where the story is set.  Important secondary characters in HOOKED include Riley Berenger, who’s Ryan’s little sister, and Sam Tracy, who is just as crazy about Fred as Ryan Berenger.  Sam and Ryan butted heads in HOOKED.  Many times.
Riley and Sam are two of my most favorite characters in HOOKED and I loved expanding their stories in PLAYED.  Riley is the kind of sister that I think everyone wants at some point while Sam Tracy is just plain hot, in my opinion.  If I were in high school, I would have totally been going all wobbly knees every time I glanced in his direction.  And it wouldn’t be just because Sam’s easy on the eyes.  He’s also incredibly smart and loyal and he has a stubbornness about him that can be both endearing and frustrating.  Sam is as complicated as Riley is an open book.
I knew that I had to intersect Riley and Sam’s stories.  And I had so much fun doing it.  These two characters pretty much flew off the page as I typed them.
Like HOOKED, PLAYED is told in two POVs: Riley and Sam.  Their lives are thrown together, quite unexpectedly.  Riley and Sam couldn’t be more mismatched and yet they are more alike in ways that neither one anticipated.  But are those similarities enough for them to get together?  Stay together?

Just like the tagline for PLAYED says: “This game is getting all too real.”
