At the Other End:
Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she’s returned—to her old life, her family, her friends—before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there’s a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki’s time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she’s forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole’s...

A brilliant retelling that captures your soul from the very first page.

I really liked this novel. I'm really at lost for words, I don't know exactly what to say that can explain this book for me.

I absolutely loved the world that is created here. It is a really good addition that makes this a retelling, yet doesn't at the same time because the original story is known. It was easy to get into touch with everything about the Everneath, and as we go through the book, we start learning more and more along with the characters.

I liked how the past and present were alternated in the story, it made it all go a whole lot faster for me, because you desperately want to know the truth about why Nikki left, and then you are caught up in the present, where she is trying to fix everything and trying to figure it all out.

I wasn't a fan of Jack..... Seriously, when everyone is obsessed with him, all I could think about was this:
(except get rid of chick/she and replace with guy/he)

I couldn't see what EVERYONE's obsession was with him? He sleeps around, and is known for it, yet they all line up to be his girlfriend when they don't even last for a few months? I honestly hated this guy for most of the book. Seriously, why would he wait so long to tell her that he didn't sleep with that other girl? Why keep it back for so long, when he knew that she thought that's what happened. And why would everyone at their school be looking at her funny when it came to everyone knowing something that she didn't, especially at the camp where she found the girl coming out of Jack's room. I don't know if I even believe Jack, because if something wasn't happening, then why would everyone be acting so weird about it all, and even before they left for the camp as well. It was like he didn't even care! The only time he showed that he cared about Nikki, was when he redeemed himself for being such an arse-face by going into the tunnels instead of her.  But then, I started to warm up to him a teeny tiny bit at the end. Now I'm not so sure about him.....
Cole. I'm not sure exactly what to think of him either. I liked him more than Jack, because even though he took Nikki into the Everneath, we know/find out the truth about how it came to be and why. Cole actually liked Nikki from when they met, not as a target to feed off, but because he just plain and simple liked her. When she had the accident, he took the pain away, only because she was in pain and was begging for him to when he said that he could. He did that because he liked her. Then, he only took her into the Everneath because she begged him to, she already said that she would go with him before she even tried to get out of it. It's not his fault, but her own and stupid Jack's. Cole didn't want to take her into the Everneath, but she begged him to. How could he deny her that, when she was in pain, was begging, crying and came to find him. How could he deny her that when he liked her and just wanted to do stop her suffering? Then, of course he wouldn't stop trying to convince her to come back with him, he didn't want to see her end up in the tunnels.

I liked Nikki, at times. I don't exactly know what to say about her. She was ok, she had the moments when I didn't like her, but then there were times when I did as well.

The one thing that I loved most of all in this book, was that it was addictive. I can't even begin to describe how addictive it was. I couldn't put the book down, and when I did, all I could think about was what was going to happen next.

A great novel, definitely can't wait to see what's in store in the next novel.

This review is entirely my own, no bribery or any deals have been made to sway this review or change my personal opinion of the novel.

  1. I remember reading the first book in the series back when it was released and really loved it, but to be honest I can't even remember half of what you're talking about. lol It's been too long and since then I've read too many books to remember.
What I do remember though, it's that I couldn't put the book down. As you wrote in your review, it's pretty addictive. :)

    1. Wow, that long ago? Although, I'm pretty late into this series and it was released in 2012, so I know where you're coming from. I know! usually I only remember how gripping a book is if I haven't read it in a long time!

  2. I'm so glad you liked this so much Gina! :D While I can't honestly say I liked it as much as you did, I did find it was an original take on the Greek myth and I love how the world was built here. Thanks for sharing and, as always, BRILLIANT review! <3 And thanks for the lovely bookmarks too! :)

    1. Aww, it's a shame you didn't like this one too much. But I definitely agree with your liking points about this book. The love triangle ruined this series for me in the end, plus Niki did as well. Oh well... Thank you! Hope you enjoy them :)

  3. I never even thought about wanting to pick up this series, but I'm glad you enjoyed it so much Gina! It's a great sign when you can't seem to put it down, or stop thinking about it. I don't like Jack already, he seems like a douche and I hate players. Ugh! Lovely review, hope you enjoy the rest of the books xx

    1. The rest of the series just goes downhill from here unfortunately. It was such a promising series, but it completely went in the wrong direction with the characters and love triangle. The only brilliant thing about this entire series was how much you just want to keep reading, no matter how bad it is or how much you want to put it down, you just can't! He is sooo annoying!!! It just gets worse too. xx

  4. I have this book with me, but still haven't read it.
It's refreshing to see someone who didn't like Jack.In each and every review I read for this book, there was a lot of gushing and fangirling for him.
I am curious about Cole.I love bad boy villains with a vulnerable side.

    1. I hated Jack, especially as the series went on, he just got worse and worse for me :/
I honestly don't know what everyone saw in him!!
haha well Cole definitely has that in abundance :)

Thanks for leaving a comment, I love hearing what you have to say and talking to you all!
