At the Other End:
Sonya was born with the rare gift to feel what those around her feel-both physically and emotionally-a gift she's kept hidden from the empire for seventeen long years. After a reckless mistake wipes out all the other girls with similar abilities, Sonya is hauled off to the palace and forced to serve the emperor as his sovereign Auraseer.

Tasked with sensing the intentions of would-be assassins, Sonya is under constant pressure to protect the emperor. One mistake, one small failure, will cost her own life and the lives of the few people left in the world who still trust her.

But Sonya's power is untamed and reckless, her feelings easily usurped, and she sometimes can't decipher when other people's impulses end and her own begin. In a palace full of warring emotions and looming darkness, Sonya fears that the biggest danger to the empire may be herself.

As she struggles to wrangle her abilities, Sonya seeks refuge in her tenuous alliances with the volatile Emperor Valko and his idealistic younger brother, Anton, the crown prince. But when threats of revolution pit the two brothers against each other, Sonya must choose which brother to trust-and which to betray.

Watch out for this book in 2016. Burning Glass will be the highlight of the year and will take the world by storm. Grab this book immediately, you will not regret it, it’s perfection from start to finish.

Warning, I will most probably be shoving this book in everyone's faces from here on out....

I don’t know how I’m going to go with writing an actual review for this book. I finished this book in one day, when now all books are taking me around a week to two weeks to finish. Burning Glass made me stay up in the night to finish and now that I am finished, all I want to do is read it again and again. I cannot get over how incredible this book was. It blew all of my expectations out of the water and I’m still reeling over the entire contents. It’s 500 pages of awesome and not one sentence is boring. You are captivated from the very start of this book and hooked on every single word. I have absolutely nothing bad or even remotely unlikable about this book, so be prepared for some raving “I love...” from me :D

The main character, Sonya is an Auraseer who basically can feel everything that everyone around her feels. After reading the first few chapters, I wasn’t sure if I liked her or not, especially what happened as soon as you start. It was completely reckless and I wondered how she couldn’t control herself and see sense about what was going to happen. But after those first few chapters you start to fully understand how much it affects her and that sometimes she really is a mirror of feelings, despite how much she tries not to be at the start and as the book goes on, you see her grow into herself and being able to identify her own true feelings instead of just others that have moulded with hers for the time she is in their company. I love how much you see her slowly grow into herself and become, not only a stronger Auraseer, but being able to fully handle herself and see reason and fight with everything that she has. By the end of the book she was strong and fierce and someone to be reckoned with. She knew exactly who she was and I cannot wait to see more of her in the second book.

Can I sigh for Anton more than I already have? The answer of obviously yes, I was swooning over him by the end of the first chapter that he was introduced and I have not stopped. Even when he was basically ignoring her (for obvious reasons that I cannot talk about) I still knew that he was the one for Sonya and that I shipped them like no tomorrow! I was actually pretty antsy throughout the whole book, there were SOOOOOO many times when they could have kissed, and it left me on edge!! Why are you people not kissing? KISS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, I’M GOING TO DIE FROM THE SEXUAL TENSION & ANTICIPATION!!!

I had conflicting feelings about Valko. At some stages, I kind of came close to liking him, but most of the time I pretty much hated him. I could kind of see what he was doing and the game that he was playing behind that pretty face and the war that went on inside of his mind. I hated how he kept on manipulating Sonya, and what made it worse was that she couldn’t stop it because she started mirroring what he felt at times. I’m wondering what is going to happen in the next book with him and what he will do.

I absolutely loved the plot line. Every single moment was laid out and the world was beautifully crafted. I loved the little bits of different cultures that wove their way into the story and into each country that gave you that little hint that made you jump back into our own world to make it all feel more real. I loved that we could see Sonya at her blackest moment, and we actually got to see her go through the secret she tried to keep from everyone, we didn’t just hear about it like most books, we got to live it with her. I loved everything about this book and this world that I would not have wanted anything to change. (Okay, maybe except more kissing, but hey who can blame me with Anton *swoons*)

I cannot recommend this book enough. It is the perfect book for any kind of occasion, whether to pick you up out of a reading slump, or to brighten your mood, or you keep you on the edge of your seat and make you want to stay up all night. This book is everything that you’ve been waiting for and I URGE you all to read this book as soon as you possibly can. I cannot wait for this book to be released in March, this book/series is now on my all time favourites list, and I will be buying practically every edition that goes on shelves and re-reading to my heart’s content until the second book comes out.

  3. I've recently put this book on my to be read list! So I'm glad it's as amazing as I want it to be!

I really love it when an author can correctly convey the emotions through their writing, like sexual tension, without making it feel forced etc. I get so annoyed when I just can't believe the emotions going on. So I'm glad that's happened in this book!
